As part of our executive search services, we provide a dedicated reference service that is designed to complement and enhance our core search capability. Every major board appointment candidate is the subject of a rigorous and thoughtful reference check that includes:

talking formally to named referees
talking informally to unnamed referees and business contacts that we have identified using our extensive internal database. The reference can either be attributable or non-attributable, depending on the situation
a Google, social networking and international media search of all published information
a full psychometric profile and skills assessment, if required.

As part of our rigorous executive recruiting process, we also check County Court judgements, credit references and bankruptcy notices. We confirm all directorships and check for disqualifications and confirm all academic and professional qualifications, including professional memberships.
The reference is summarised and included in the shortlist pack that clients receive for each candidate. It provides an additional insight into the candidates’ management style and capability that is not always possible to uncover at interview. It also sheds further light on candidates’ personal style, character and motivation.
We offer this stand-alone service independently of our executive recruiting services. This is particularly valuable in cases where a client wants a rigorous, independent check of a potential candidate, who has not been introduced by us.
